important that they are respected at all times. Therefore, the responsible behavior of the Port Moody residents
is crucial to ensure both the safety of the people and the bears.

Coquitlam helps to raise awareness of bears in the community by supporting the provincial Bear Aware
program. Furthermore, the city tries to make its residents aware of the steps they can take to minimize the
encounters between bears and people.

including bears, the City tries to make its residents bear aware. Under the slogan 'A fed bear is a dead bear' the
city raises awareness to minimize human contact with bears for their safety and the residents and to manage bear
attractants properly.
